Cripps at home in Tunbridge Wells
Law firm Cripps have now moved into their new 40,000 square feet headquarters in Tunbridge Wells, the first substantial office building to have been built in the town for more than 25 years.
The state of the art building, on the site of the former Kent & Sussex Hospital, was built by Berkeley Homes as part of the Royal Wells Park development and will be occupied by around 300 staff over four floors. Cripps is one of the largest employers in the town and had been looking for new offices for over ten years.
Gavin Tyler, Managing Partner at Cripps comments;
‘…Tunbridge Wells has been home to Cripps since the firm was founded in 1852 and we were determined to remain here but the problem was finding somewhere large enough in the town centre. Cripps had been based in five different buildings in Mount Ephraim Road since the early 1990s and this move has enabled all our Tunbridge Wells staff to be in one building for the first time since we left our original office in Calverley Road over 20 years ago. We also have offices in Kings Hill and London to make access for clients as easy as possible.
Modern business requires modern practices and we have made very significant investments in the latest technology and office systems to ensure that we can operate as collaboratively and efficiently as possible. We are delighted to have found such wonderful offices in the town. This is a major step in the firm’s history and the length of our office search is a statement of our commitment to the local community.’
Cripps have a national reputation for the quality of its legal expertise, with many of its lawyers ranked amongst the best in the country. One of the largest employers in the town, Cripps had been looking for new offices for over ten years. Following there exhaustive search, JAC were approached to provide design, project management, cost analysis and furniture consultancy services.
Working on a traditional route of procurement, a full professional team was engaged to detail and cost the project prior to tendering the works to three shortlisted contractors. The JAC team project managed and oversaw the construction works ensuring that the design concept and quality levels were fully adhered to.
John Cox, Managing Director at JAC Group comments;
‘…Seeing all the disciplines of the JAC family working together on this complex and beautiful project has been extremely satisfying. More importantly for us is having yet another delighted client whom we will continue to support and work with for many years to come. It was a real pleasure working with Gavin and the Cripps team and together we have been able to create an exceptional working environment…’
