JAC Group appointed by Affinity Shipping LLP
JAC are delighted to announce the formal appointment of JAC Design & Project Management by Affinity Shipping LLP to project manage their 6,584 sq ft relocation from Tower 42 to the new iconic “Cheesegrater” 122 Leadenhall building on the 44th floor. Affinity has signed a 10 year lease with a 5 year break clause, taking its new global headquarters to the tallest building in the city of London.
The JAC management has been appointed to organise close coordination of a wide professional team with the selected design and build contractor Area Squared. The landlord’s team representing the interests of Affinity Shipping include M3 Consulting, disposing agents DTZ, JLL & British Land. Affinity Shipping LLP commercial property interests are represented by J Peiser Wainwright Real Estate.
The Leadenhall building opened in July 2014 and is designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and informally known as “The Cheesegrater” because of its distinctive wedge shape. The site is adjacent to the Lloyd’s building, also designed by Rogers, which is the current home of the insurance market Lloyd’s of London. The new Leadenhall building is 224m with 47 floors and is prominently located in the centre of the square mile. The new tower features a tapered glass façade on one side which reveals steel bracings, along with a ladder frame to emphasize the vertical appearance of the building. It also appears to anchor the tower to the ground, giving a sense of strength.
Affinity Shipping is a new independent shipbroker with an approach focused on expertise rather than scale. Affinity boasts offices for the company in Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Seoul and Houston along with London.
“This iconic, contemporary, well-positioned and efficient building provides us with a special environment in the heart of the City. Our new office will provide inspiration to our teams, clients and friends. We are very fortunate, as a new shipping company, to find a space so perfectly matching our requirements, with the bonus of a special view of the London skyline.”
The project is due for completion in June 2015.
Lawrence Mohiuddine, Lead Consultant at JAC Group commented;
“We set ourselves exacting standards and targets, to collaborate with leading organisations in leading developments across London. To see the JAC team managing on behalf of clients such as Affinity Shipping LLP at 122 Leadenhall, the highest trading floor in Europe, and Vinson & Elkins at 20 Fenchurch Street is testament to the vision and excellence of service that is at our core.”
