City of London Project to Complete Amid Lockdown
Abi Olden, Junior Project Associate at JAC Group looks back on her first few months with the company and our project management work with a leading global investment manager on their office fit-out in the City of London
JAC have been delighted to work with a leading global investment manager on their 19,609 sq. ft CAT B office fit-out in the City of London. Focused on infrastructure and real estate, our client strives to make a positive contribution to society by generating value for their investors and the communities who use their assets. A client who is committed to investing actively, responsibly and from a long-term perspective, their offices were designed with sustainability in mind and are on track to receive a SKA Gold rating.
Overlooking St Pauls Cathedral holds the large modern café, which doubles up as a town hall space, with timber flooring and beautiful feature lighting well equipped for large presentations and collaborations. Working with two different furniture suppliers, coordination between teams was key to ensure the office felt cohesive yet had definitive front and back of house areas by their look and feel.
All projects have their challenges, but JAC and the wider project team have faced new challenges in the presence of COVID-19, overcoming hurdles that would have seemed an impossible ask if proposed a few months ago. Technology has always been an important feature of this client’s office fit-out, but has now come into an element of its own – entering the final stages of this project, the weekly project meetings that used to be complete with coffee and croissants have been replaced with virtual meetings in our living rooms, and site walkarounds replaced with daily photos and videos. Clear communication and good teamwork have allowed this project to continue hitting deadlines and progressing throughout these challenging times. Due to complete in May 2020, our client is very much excited by the prospect of moving into their newly refurbished offices.
